The man, identified only as Yaqub, was hanged at dawn (above) after being convicted of stabbing a man to death in broad daylight last October in the affluent North Tehran neighborhood of Saadatabad. Yaqub was hanged at the site of the murder. As is the norm with such public executions, an immense crowd (below) formed long before the execution hour to take in the entertainment.
