Some $4.1 billion is required for the Esfahan refinery project and $2.8 billion for the espansion of Abadan, Iran’s oldest refinery, Mehr said.
The Mehr report didn’t say what Chinese company Iran was negotiating with.
It said the expansion at the two refineries would add 40 million liters of gasoline production capacity. Iran is currently consuming from 50 to 55 million liters of gasoline daily. Its refineries in recent years have produced 44 million liters a day.
