You may not believe it, but the Iranian association of firms that make confectionery complained this week that $440 million worth of foreign chewing gum is being smuggled into Iran every year. The association complained this undermined domestic chewing gum (which we didn’t know existed) and threatened health because there is no quality control when it comes to smuggled gum.
