Eighteen-year-old chess whiz Parham Maghsoodloo (photo) won the World Junior Chess Championship September 16, a full point ahead of Indian Abhi-manyu Puranik. In previous years, four junior champs have moved up to win the adult championship—Boris Spassky, Anatoly Karpov, Garry Kasparov and Viswanathan Anand. Maghsoodloo was so dominant that he didn’t lose a match until the final round.
