The United States is the main customer for Iranian carpets, according to Hamid Kargar, the chairman of Iran’s National Carpet Center. But US trade statistics show that in the first six months of 2016, the United States imported a mere $30 million worth of Iranian carpets (and that was 80 percent of everything the US bought from Iran).
