We’ve often mentioned that while the Islamic Republic likes to stuff people in prison, it is a mere piker compared to the United States. Iran imprisons 284 people per 100,000 population. The US rate is much higher at 716. But recently This Week magazine looked at the incarceration rates by state and pointed out that Iran imprisons at only one-fifth the rate of Louisiana where the jailbird rate 1,341 per 100,000.
