Buried alive?

Last week, we carried a photo of the 270 remains of war dead being returned from Iraq.  Brig. Gen. Mohammad Bagherzadeh, who heads the hunt for the missing, says as many as 175 of those bodies belong to Iranian frogmen who were captured during an operation to cross the Arvand River into Iraq.  He said their hands were tied behind their backs, proving they had been killed after being captured.  He also said some of the bodies bore no scars, indicating they were likely buried alive.  However, he didn’t explain how full bodies would remain more than a quarter century after the men died.
