The Third Millennium Tower (photo), an immense residential building whose construction was halted in 2011, reportedly because of sanctions, is once again under construction, the Financial Tribune reported. The building is not actually a tower but a massive slab of 72,000 square meters (775,000 square feet), which will be the largest building in the country when it is completed. It is 120 meters (394 feet) high, which makes it tall but by no means a record. The city’s tallest building apart from the Milad Tower is the Tehran International Tower at 162.5 meters (533 feet), a little shorter than the Washington Monument. The partly built Millennium building sits just south of the Vanak district and west of Vali Asr Avenue and has been viewed as an eyesore for years.
