Brit in court for insults to Iranian

The incident happened in Spennymoor, a town in County Durham in the far north of England.

Ellis is accused of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior likely to cause harassment, alarm and distress, three of which were racially aggravated.

The victim of two charges is Arash Nadiri, a worker at Milano’s takeout pizza shop.

Ellis is also accused of possession of a knife and of producing 43 cannabis plants, possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply and of using electricity without authority—a rather long list of varied offenses to respond to.

All matters were adjourned to June 13 for committal. He was released on bail.
