Blinken gets nod

President Obama has nominated Anthony Blinken to become deputy secretary of state, the number two post. Normally that slot is reserved for a career diplomat, but Blinken, 52, is a career Democrat who once worked for John Kerry when he was chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and more recently worked for Vice President Joe Biden. Blinken is currently the number two officer on the National Security Council Staff under Susan Rice.
