With Iran emerging from a summer of frequent blackouts, Oil Minister Javad Oji (photo) warned September 10 that the country will likely face gas shortages this winter. Natural gas is the country’s primary heating fuel. It is also the primary fuel at electricity generating plants. Oji said the Oil Ministry has 30 percent less fuel on hand for power plants this year than last year.
