Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev (photo) says relations with Iran will not be normalized until the Islamic Republic executes the Iranian man who attacked Azerbaijan’s embassy in Tehran and killed a security officer there. Aliyev said, “Two years have passed, and the perpetrator has not yet been punished. To normalize relations, the terrorist and those behind him must be held accountable.” The Persian gunman has been tried and sentenced to death, but not yet executed. He said he attacked the embassy because he thought the embassy was helping his Azeri wife to desert him.
