Arab nations that normalized ties with Israel last year have “sinned” and should reverse such moves, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenehi has proclaimed.
The United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco all agreed to establish diplomatic relations with Israel in 2020.
“Some governments have unfortunately made errors – have made big errors and have sinned in normalizing [their relations] with the usurping and oppressive Zionist regime,” Khamenehi said October 24.
“It is an act against Islamic unity; they must turn away from this path and make up for this big mistake,” Khamenehi said in a speech marking the birth of the Prophet Mohammed.
Until last year, Egypt and Jordan were the only Arab countries to have diplomatic relations with Israel.
“If the unity of Muslims were achieved, the Palestinian question would definitely be resolved in the best fashion,” Khamenehi said.
In May, Khamenehi characterized Israel as a “terrorist base” and “not a country.”
