The Islamic Republic says it has started a production line for a new anti-aircraft missile system dubbed the Sayyad-2 (Hunter-2). Defense Minister Hossain Dehqan was shown (above, pointing) inspecting the first missiles coming off the production line. The missile is fired from truck-mounted firing tubes (below). The Talash (Endeavor) radar control system has been designed to locate targets for the Sayyad and guide the missile to the targets. The defense minister said Talash has been tested and will enter production “soon.” Iran is working on another air defense missile system, called Bavar-373, which the military says will be as good as the Russian S-300 air defense missile that Russia is now refusing to sell Iran.
