Gholam-Ali Dorri-Najafabadi, who was the intelligence minister under President Mohammad Khatami, gave a sermon in Arak recently in which he said, “[The number of] Jews killed in the Holocaust during Hitler’s time was not six million. There were not even six million Jews [in Europe to be killed]. Maybe 60 or 50 were killed.” He said any denial of the Holocaust in the West is unacceptable. “If anyone talks about the Holocaust, [the West] imprisons them, flogs them, fines them, executes them.” Most European countries have outlawed Holocaust denial, and deniers have been fined. But none has been flogged or executed. The estimated Jewish population of Europe in 1933 when Hitler took power was 9.5 million.
