“The Great Satan, the United States, from the beginning of the [Iranian] revolution, brought its military, financial, propaganda and political empire to the scene to defeat the Islamic revolution and the Iranian people. But the realities of the political arena of Iran and the region indicate that the US has come to its knees in front of the Islamic revolution,” Khamenehi said Tuesday.
The Supreme Leader referred to analyses on the failure of US strategies in the Middle East and said, “Thirty years ago, the Great Satan lost just one of its corrupt cronies, the Pahlavi regime, but today the US is witnessing that more regimes dependent on it are collapsing one after another.”
So far, two governments have fallen. The one in Egypt was very closely tied to the United States; the one in Tunisia was not.
Khamenehi avoided mentioning that the Syrian regime, Iran’s sole ally in the Arab world, is currently under siege. Of the 22 members of the Arab League, the United States has good to excellent relations with 18. It has sour relations with Sudan, Libya and Syria, the latter two of which are facing the largest opposition movements right now. (The other state is Somalia, which has no functioning government.)
Khamenehi said the isolation of the US and the revival of Islam were indications of the realization of God’s promises. He said the US inability to cope with the Palestinian issue was yet another example of the many American failures in the international arena.
The Leader said the Islamic revolution has now achieved a higher status compared to 30 years ago. He called on the Iranian public and officials to remain steadfast and vigilant in the face of numerous Western plots.
Khamenehi made his remarks in a meeting with cadets at the Imam Hossain Military Academy.
