Alaeddin Borujerdi is the chairman of the Majlis National Security Committee. He is one of the more powerful deputies in the Majlis and one of its most vocal anti-American voices.
Speaking in the chamber recently, Borujerdi said Qadhdhafi and Yemeni President Ali-Abdullah Salih were doomed to fall despite US efforts.
“The United States is trying to derail the revolutions in the Muslim nations and intends—at the cost of the disintegration of some regional countries—to prevent people from taking their fate into their own hands.”
But, he said, “The unflagging will of the people is stronger than American power.
Borujerdi also spoke of the trouble in Syria, saying the disorder there is the result of efforts by the United States and its allies to meddle because the Syrian government supports the Palestinian people and their cause.
“The nature of the developments in Syria is different from the developments in the other countries of the region,” Borujerdi said.
