All major Dem. candidates would rejoin nuclear deal

February 28, 2020

All the major Democratic candidates say they would rejoin the nuclear deal with Iran if elected president this Nolvember.

The New York Times sent a policy questionnaire to all the remaining Democratic presidential candidates asking them questions on 11 foreign policy questions.

Six candidates poll above 5 percent in national surveys.  They are former Vice Presdient Joe Biden, former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg, former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Senators Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota, Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Masachusetts.

All six said they would rejoin the nuclear agreement that President Trump withdrew from.  And all six ducked a question about the use of military force.

In a question about whether the killing of Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleymani was justifiable, only Bloomberg said it was justifiable, though he questioned whether it was “wise.”  Sen. Klobuchar said the killing was questionable.  Senators Sanders and Warren gave a flat “No,” to the question  of whether the killing was justified.  Biden and Buttigieg did not condemn the killing but called Trump “reckless” (Biden) and “provocative” (Buttigeig) in ordering the killing.
