has started shooting his second movie in Canada. The film is not set in Iran or related to Iran in any way.
An all-non-Iranian cast has been selected for “This Is Not My House,” which has been jointly written by Andisheh Mina, Daniel Garber and John Smoke.
The film tells the story of Peter Martin, an 87-year-old man suffering from Alzheimer’s disease who refuses to believe his wife has died. His family gets into trouble from this notion and consequently decides to put him into a sanitarium. However, the move causes new problems.
Shooting by Iranian cameraman Farhad Saba began October 5, the Mehr news agency reported.
Afkhami, who was once a reformist deputy in the Majlis, left Iran for Canada more than two years ago. Shortly after arriving in Canada, he made “The End of the World.”
He has set up a film studio in Canada to pursue his film career there and has trained a number of students, some of whom are working on Afkhami’s film projects.
His earlier comedy, “St. Petersburg,” is currently onscreen in Iranian movie theaters.
