The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) says a poll it took shows 78 percent of the Muslims in Virginia voted in this month’s gubernatorial elections, almost double the 41 percent of registered voters that turned out. It said the poll shows Muslims backed the winning Democrat, Terry McAuliffe, with half again as much support as statewide voters gave him over Republican Ken Cuccinelli. The statewide margin was 48 percent for McAuliffe and 45 percent for Cuccinelli with 7 percent for other candidates. The poll showed Muslims voting 68 percent for McAuliffe, 12 percent for Cuccinelli and 4 percent for others, with 17 percent declining to give their vote.
