Egypt has decided once again to suspend visits by Iranian tourist groups, presumably because of anti-Shia feelings boiling in Egypt. The visits were started last spring, but immediately suspended in the wake of an anti-Shia frenzy that envisioned the Iranian tourists converting Egyptians. After a brief pause, the tourist flights were resumed until now. Tourism Minister Hesham Zazou said, “Egypt will freeze tourism activities with Iran for national security reasons.” But he said the visits would resume as soon as the security problem diminishes.
