With President Rohani in office just weeks, inflation has already started to ease.
The Central Bank announced Monday that the inflation rate for the 12 months ending in the Persian month of Shahrivar (August 23-September 22) came to 36 percent, down from 39 percent as of the previous month.
Shahrivar was the first full month of Rohani’s presidency.
The new administration hasn’t made any changes in economic policy, so the downward shift is likely more a result of psychology and the public anticipation of change.
