Yu Darvish got bumped from the Texas Rangers pitching rotation last week after he turned up with muscle tightness.
He missed one appearance in the rotation and is expected to be back on the mound this week. The Rangers have five starting pitchers and Darvish normally pitches every fifth game. Altogether, the Rangers have 13 pitchers on their 25-man active roster, so there was no trouble filling in for Darvish.
Darvish said, “I just felt a little tightness in my quad during my bullpen yesterday. I don’t look at it like an injury, just a precaution. It’s just a small problem now. I want to handle it before it becomes a big problem. I talked it over with the coaches and this is the best decision for me and the team going forward.”
