The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that Haddadi had elective surgery in June to repair ligament and tendon damage from a non-basketball injury he suffered before he joined the Grizzlies five years ago. For the first time since joining the team, Haddadi has not gone home to Iran for the off-season. It isn’t known if that reflects a decision to stay permanently in the US or just the fact that he had so much trouble getting his visa renewed last year that he missed the first few weeks of the season.
