The US is no longer pressing Israel to stop building settlements or to enter into peace talks with the Palestinians. Some surmise that Israel is breathing hot and heavy over the Iran issue precisely to get away from the Palestinian issue. And some think Obama is complicit in the desire to deny Palestine the central role in US-Israel relations so as not to hurt his standing with Jewish voters.
