Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib says the budget for his ministry was expanded ten-fold under the late President Raisi. He said the added funds were used to “expand our security infrastructure and effectively counter Israel.” Khatib spoke nine days before an Israeli explosive killed the head of Hamas as he visited Tehran.
