We reported in our last issue that in January Iran canceled resumption of the umrah (or minor hajj, which can be undertaken at any time of the year) because Saudi Arabia had failed to give permission, despite months of planning. The Saudis have now given their permission and the first pilgrims left for Mecca April 22.
