The US military has assassinated an Iraqi militia leader in much the same way it killed Qods Force commander Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleymani four years ago. A missile fired by a drone at a car in Baghdad February 7 killed three men, including Wissam Mohammad as-Saadi, identified as the commander of the Kata’eb Hezbollah militia. Kata’eb Hezbollah is believed to be the group that sent the drone into the US base Tower 22, killing three US Army enlistees in January.
Kata’eb Hezbollah later announced it would suspend attacks on US bases. After its commander’s death, the group said it would resume attacks on the Americans, but thus far it has not.
