The wife of President Ebrahim Raisi says that, rather than worry about husbands who beat their wives, the world should be far more concerned about the Western crime of making women study and work like men.
In an interview with Venezuelan state TV, Jamileh Alam-ol-hoda said many governments abuse women in the workplace in the name of freedom.
Alam-ol-hoda, who accompanied President Raisi on his June tour of Latin America, made the remarks during an interview with Venezuela’s teleSUR TV.
She said women’s rights organizations mostly focus on domestic violence while “the organized violence outside the family is much more important.”
She said, “We want women to remain women. Why should we be like men? Why should we study, work or live like men? This is a form of violence.”
In response to a question about the death of Mahsa Amini, she called the attention given the death of the 22-year-old “fake media hype.”
She also said that by labeling Supreme Leader Ali Khamenehi a dictator, the Western media “disrespect our spiritual father and the leader of our revolution. He has shown kindness and love to everyone, but the media call him a dictator.”
