Iran has had to limit power production at the Bushehr nuclear power plant because the rising temperatures in the Persian Gulf mean water extracted to cool the reactor is too hot to cool it as fast as needed, atomic energy chief Mohammad Eslami has said. He said the average annual temperature in the Persian Gulf is 26 degrees centigrade but has risen this summer to 34-35 degrees. He also said that studies for cooling the two new units under construction will have to be revised in light of what climate change is doing to the Persian Gulf waters.
