The report from Ash-Sharqiyah, an Iraqi station based in Dubai, went on: “The source noted that the Iranian official told the Iraqi officials the Iranian government would not allow the F16 warplanes deal and would not allow any US warplanes to enter Iraqi territories since this represents a threat to the Iranian security. The source added that Iran will not allow the Iraqi government to sign the deal.” But US warplanes have been based inside Iraq for almost eight years and fly in Iraqi airspace every single day.
