State broadcasting and the state news agency have both reported that Iranian state railways announced plans to set up a joint venture under which it will build locomotives in association with General Electric of the USA and Siemens of Germany. That would be very interesting. In 2018, General Electric sold off its locomotive division and is no longer in that business.
