Googoosh, now 71 years old, is currently on a North American concert tour, her first in more than three years.
She has also just released a new album.
The tour is to mark the 21 years since she fled Iran and ended the two-decade-long silence imposed by the regime.
Her first concert of this tour was September 11 in San Jose, California, where 2,000 fans listened and sang along with Googoosh.
She is following that with concerts in Washington, DC, October 2, Chicago October 16, New York November 27, Las Vegas December 25, Houston January 22, Vancouver January 29, Toronto May 14 and Orange County, California, July 2.
She told National Public Radio, “Children are growing up as non-Iranians. But I’m trying to remind them.”
