A goal scored by an Iranian playing for a Portuguese soccer team has been voted the best goal of the past season by European soccer fans. Mehdi Taremi’s sensational bicycle kick (above) for Porto against Chelsea of England has won that recognition. Taremi received nearly 30 percent of all the votes cast to win the UEFA.com vote. Taremi’s goal came deep into added time of the teams’ UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg, though it was not enough to prevent Porto from being eliminated by the eventual winners. UEFA is the organization of all European national soccer leagues.
