According to IranWire, the rules for the new electronic ID cards replacing the old internal passports preclude a citizen from identifying his religion as “Other,” thereby denying cards to Baha’is who will not lie about their faith. That means they will not be able to open bank accounts, get driver’s licenses, vote or conduct other basic tasks requiring someone to show an ID card.
