A duststorm raged across the Zabol area of Sistan va Baluchestan province for much of the first half of August, with officials saying particles reached 16 times the acceptable level for health reasons. Winds reaching as high as 70 miles per hour added to the hazards. The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), however, had some problems with its statistics, reporting that 468 people had been hospitalized as of August 10, 262 as of August 14 and 368 as of August 17.
