The Iranian media gave a lot of coverage to the visit to Tehran last month by Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdel-Mahdi, seeing it as an indication of Iraq’s closeness to Iran. There was very little coverage in the Iranian media 10 days later when he flew to Riyadh for a visit. Abdel-Mahdi has sought to improve ties with Saudi Arabia without undermining ties with Iran.
