excoriating or praising Washington Post columnist David Broder for proposing that President Obama launch a military attack on Iran. Broder did not, however, propose any such thing. Broder said that Obama might be able to “storm back to win a second term in 2012” if the economy improves and that one way to get the economy moving would be to “accelerate preparations for war” with Iran. But Broder also wrote, “I am not suggesting, of course, that the president incite a war to get re-elected.” His concluding sentence was: “If he can confront this threat and contain Iran’s nuclear ambitions, he will have made the world safer and may be regarded as one of the most successful presidents in history.”
