Officials from Boeing were in Tehran this week. Iran said Boeing offered to sell Iran the 737, 777 and 787 designs. Actually, Boeing is only allowed to discuss possible sales with Iran. The license it received from the US Treasury Department does not allow it to sell Iran any aircraft at this time. If Iran wants to make a purchase, Boeing will have to go back to the Treasury for another license. Iran said Boeing also discussed servicing and support for the aged Boeing aircraft Iran still operates. The US government allowed Iran to buy spare parts from Boeing more than a year ago, but Iran has so far only bought one part and some publications and manuals.
