We reported last week that the recent batch of declassified CIA documents includes the first public admission by the CIA that it played a role in the 1953 coup in Tehran that toppled Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh (photo). But now the AP says that is not true. It says that hardly anyone noticed last year when the CIA posted a timeline on its website that included this statement: “19 August 1953 — CIA-assisted coup overthrows Iranian Premier Mohammad Mossadegh.”
